"The Halfway Inn is closed to customers, sitting on a country road, side-lined by a bypass, in the dark West of Wales. One winter night, deep in snow, Kelly a student hitching home for Xmas is picked up by mum of two and local nurse, Riley. The two women end up knocking on the door of The Halfway when the car gets stuck in a drift. The landlord is less than pleased to see them but his elderly father, upstairs in bed and immobilised by a stroke, seems to want to tell them something very badly! Five miles away at the police station Detective Sgt Jim Lewis is on light duties, holding the fort and sulking while the rest of the team get to share in the rare excitement of a house break-in and violent death of an elderly woman. A call comes in to say the local nurse hasn't made it and can Mike check out her last round in the 4x4? At the inn the strangers settle down for the night but small talk soon shows that someone is lying. Is Kelly really a student? Is Riley just a yummy mummy nurse? Is Gwyn even the landlord? Then Mike finds an abandoned car in the snow with something interesting in the boot. And there's something even more interesting under the old man's bed..."--
